Timeline

The Ferrari Dino 246, launched with a 2.4 L Dino V6 engine, produced 195 PS and was available as a GT coupé or a GTS Spyder. In the U.S., a detuned version offered 175 hp. Key features included 3X2-barrel Weber carburetors and a new ignition system. Weighing around 2,400 lb, it had a steel body and a longer wheelbase than its predecessor, the 206. Production included 2,295 GT coupés and 1,274 GTS spyders across three series, with notable differences in wheels and wipers. The Dino 246 was known for its performance, with a top speed of 146 mph, and it won the 1975 Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash. The model also gained notoriety when a buried Dino 246 GTS was discovered in Los Angeles, a part of an insurance fraud scheme.
