The Dino 308 GT4, introduced in October 1973, initially bore the Dino badge, which was replaced by Ferrari's "Prancing Horse" in May 1976, though the rear retained the Dino 308GT4 logo. This rebranding, partly due to the energy crisis, aimed to clarify the car's identity amidst buyer hesitation. In 1975, Ferrari updated the 308 GT4 with technical and cosmetic changes, including the Prancing Horse badge and a two-tone paint scheme. This model was the only Ferrari legally imported to the US in 1975 and was also the only factory-supported 2+2 Ferrari in racing. The GT4 had two versions: early models with twin distributor engines and later models with single distributor engines.
