The 'Uovo', a unique Ferrari, emerged from a collaboration between Carrozzeria Fontana and sculptor Franco Reggiani, commissioned by Count Giannino Marzotto, a racing driver and owner. In 1951, Marzotto sought to outdo Ferrari with a more aerodynamic and streamlined design, resulting in the 'Uovo' (Italian for 'egg'). Despite mixed reactions from the Ferrari team, the car proved to be a formidable competitor in various Italian races, demonstrating its value on the track. After its racing days in the mid-1950s, the 'Uovo' changed hands several times until 1986, when it returned to Italy, mostly remaining hidden except for a brief display at the Museo Enzo Ferrari. The car, marking a significant piece of Ferrari history, especially during their 70th anniversary, was set to be auctioned at RM Sotheby’s Monterey sale.
