Timeline

The Ferrari 250 GT Coupé, produced between 1955 and 1960, was a GT car designed by Pinin Farina and built by three coachbuilders: Boano, Ellena, and later by Carrozzeria Pinin Farina itself. The Boano and Ellena series, mechanically similar to the Europa GT, were seen as refinements rather than complete redesigns. The final series, built by Pinin Farina, featured a new shape and technical improvements. The Boano series, produced during 1955-1957, and the Ellena series, from 1957-1958, had 88 and 50 units respectively, each powered by a 3.0 L Tipo 128 Colombo V12 engine. Boano, which took over initial production due to Pinin Farina's facility limitations, imposed some design changes, like removing the kick-up behind the doors and slightly lowering the roofline. Pinin Farina's design for the coupés evolved from the Speciale Coupé s/n 0407GT, featuring a smaller, elliptical grille and distinctive tail fins. The first prototype was presented at the 1956 Geneva Motor Show. In total, 29 units were produced, including competition versions with light alloy bodywork. The Boano and Ellena coupés lacked identifying scripts as they were subcontractors.
