Timeline

The Ferrari 250 GT Lusso, produced between 1962 and 1964, is celebrated as one of Ferrari's most elegant designs. Designed by Pininfarina and bodied by Carrozzeria Scaglietti, this grand tourer was larger and more luxurious than its predecessor, the 250 GT Berlinetta. Known for its aesthetic appeal, the Lusso featured a steel body with aluminum doors, boot lid, and bonnet, and was the first Ferrari to incorporate a small integrated spoiler. Its spacious interior, notable for its forward-positioned engine, offered a unique design for a Ferrari at the time. The car was powered by a 3.0 L Colombo-designed V12 engine, delivering 240 hp and able to reach a top speed of 240 km/h, making it the fastest passenger car of its era. Although not intended for competition, the 250 GT Lusso made appearances in events like the Targa Florio and Tour de France. In total, 351 units were produced before being replaced by the Ferrari 275 GTB. The model, originally sold for $13,375, saw its value appreciate significantly, with recent sales reaching between $1.2 and $2.1 million.
