Timeline

For the 1959 racing season, Ferrari updated the 250 Testa Rossa's body design with Pinin Farina's light revisions, while Fantuzzi handled the body fabrication. The previous cutaway nose and pontoon fenders were replaced with a more aerodynamic shape, still featuring numerous ventilation grilles and air inlets. This 1959 model was the first Ferrari sports car to adopt disc brakes, made by Dunlop, which were less prone to heat buildup and fade compared to drum brakes. This advancement rendered the extra air cooling of the 1958 Scaglietti body unnecessary. Additionally, a 5-speed transmission, mounted directly behind the engine, was introduced in 1959.
