Timeline

The Ferrari 275 GTB Competizione Speciale, or 275 GTB/C Speciale, was designed under Mauro Forghieri in the mid-1960s to succeed the 250 GTO in GT racing. Only four were built, each with unique, hand-built alloy bodywork resembling the 250 GTO and 330 LMB, and a lightweight chassis. These cars featured a Tipo 213 engine, similar to the 250 LM, producing 290-305 bhp. Weight-saving measures included Plexiglas windows and magnesium engine components. Its racing debut was hindered by initial FIA resistance, leading to a limited 1965 season presence. Notable achievements include a 3rd place at the 1965 24 Hours of Le Mans. A resemblance to the 250 GTO earned it an unofficial nickname, "GTO '65". In 2014, one sold for $26.4 million at an auction.
