Timeline

The Ferrari 308 GTB and GTS, produced from 1975 to 1985, are iconic V8, mid-engined, two-seater sports cars from the renowned Italian manufacturer Ferrari. Replacing the Dino 246 in 1975 and later succeeded by the 328 in 1985, these models are known for their distinctive design and engineering. The 308's body, crafted by Pininfarina's Leonardo Fioravanti, stands out with its contrast to the angular Bertone-designed GT4. The GTB model, introduced at the 1975 Paris Motor Show, initially featured a lightweight body made of glass-reinforced plastic, contributing to a significantly reduced weight. This was later replaced with steel bodies in 1977. The car's technical framework included a tube frame with a separate body, a transversely mounted V8 engine with two belt-driven overhead camshafts per cylinder bank, a 5-speed "dog-leg" manual gearbox, and independent suspension with double wishbones. Notably, a total of 3,219 GTS and 2,897 GTB models were produced, including a limited run of 808 fiberglass versions.
