The 1968 Formula One season was a continuation of Ferrari's struggles. Jacky Ickx, a new addition to the team, managed to win the rain-soaked 1968 French Grand Prix, but this was a rare highlight in an otherwise challenging season. The introduction and rapid development of aerodynamic devices in F1 further complicated the season for Ferrari. The team finished 4th in the Constructors' Championship. Following these difficulties, team manager Franco Lini and driver Jacky Ickx both left, with Ickx moving to Brabham. Amidst these challenges, Enzo Ferrari negotiated a deal in the summer of 1968, selling a significant portion of his road car business to Fiat for $11 million. The deal was finalized in early 1969, with Enzo Ferrari retaining 50% control of the company.
