The Ferrari 333 SP, a sports prototype race car, marked Ferrari's grand return to sports car racing after two decades. Designed by Ferrari and built by Dallara and Michelotto, it debuted in 1993 to compete in the World Sports Car championship, particularly in IMSA's new WSC class. Out of 40 chassis built between 1994 and 2003, 27 were raced. It showcased its prowess right from its debut in 1994, winning multiple races. In 1995, the 333 SP clinched the makes championship in the IMSA GT Championship, with notable performances at events like the 12 Hours of Sebring. The car's design evolved over time, achieving significant success in the International Sports Racing Series (later the FIA Sportscar Championship) in 1998 and finding a stronghold in European races. Despite challenges from factory-backed teams in the American Le Mans Series, it continued to excel in Europe. However, as the car aged, it gradually phased out from international sports car racing by the early 2000s.
