Timeline

The Ferrari America series, produced in the 1950s and 1960s, represented Ferrari's top-end models. These grand touring cars featured the largest V12 engines and often had custom bodywork. The first in the series was the 340 America, produced from 1950 to 1952, with 25 units made (including two converted from the 275 S). It boasted a 4.1 L Lampredi V12 engine, producing 220 PS, and had a 5-speed manual transmission. The 340 America's body styles included 2-door coupés and roadsters, and it had a wheelbase of 2,420 mm with a dry weight of around 900 kg for the berlinetta. The design was a collaboration with coachbuilders like Vignale, Touring, and Ghia, featuring work by Giovanni Michelotti. The 340 America had notable success, including a victory in the 1951 Mille Miglia race driven by Luigi Villoresi. It was later succeeded by the 375 America, which featured a larger engine.
