The Ferrari Challenge, founded by Ferrari Club Nederland's Hans Hugenholtz, began in 1993 for the Ferrari 348, featuring both Italian and European series. Cars in the series were largely based on the road-going GT models of the same year, with modifications limited to slick tyres, a new body kit, improved brake pads, a roll-bar, a repositioned smaller battery, and seat belts. In 1994, adjustments were required to update the G-spec engines with H-spec cylinder heads and injection systems. Dealers primarily performed these modifications using factory-supplied Challenge kits. The 348's final season in the Ferrari Challenge was 1995, after which it was replaced by the F355 Challenge.
