Timeline

The Ferrari 365 California, introduced in 1966, succeeded the 500 Superfast as the first model in the 365 series. It featured a 4,390 cc V12 engine, an evolution of the 330's 4.0 L unit with a larger 81 mm bore. Built on the same chassis as the 500 Superfast, the 365 California showcased an evolutionary cabriolet body designed by Pininfarina. Making its debut at the Geneva Motor Show, only 14 units were produced (including 2 in right-hand drive) until the end of its production in 1967. While the prototype was based on a 330 GT 2+2 type 571 chassis, the production models used the type 598 chassis. These chassis were sent to Pininfarina's Grugliasco plant for body and trim work before returning to Ferrari for the mechanical components' installation.
