Timeline

In 1955, Ferrari introduced the 410 Superamerica as part of its America series. This model featured a 5.0 L engine derived from the single plug 410 S, producing 340 PS with triple Weber 40DCF carburettors. In 1957, the Superamerica Series III enhanced power to 360 PS using triple 46DCF3 Webers, marking the final evolution of the 'long-block' Lampredi V12. Each 410 Superamerica was distinct, boasting custom bodywork primarily by Pinin Farina, alongside a few by Boano and Ghia. Notably expensive, priced at $16,800, it was over twice the cost of the contemporary Mercedes-Benz 300SL "Gullwing." Only 35 units were made before the series concluded in 1959. The Series III, introduced in 1958, featured significant design changes including a non-panoramic rear window, a redesigned front grille, and modified headlights, with variations in side louvres and window treatments.
