The Ferrari 458 Challenge, unveiled in 2010 for the 2011 Ferrari Challenge season, is a race-focused version of the 458. It was updated to the 458 Challenge Evo in 2014, with improved aerodynamics, notably a large rear wing. The standard 458 Challenge is almost as fast as the Ferrari FXX, lapping the Fiorano track in 1:16.5. Weight reductions were achieved through lighter body panels and carbon fiber components. Features included a racing cockpit, Sabelt racing seat, detachable steering wheel, and a racing exhaust. Combined production of both 458 Challenge and Challenge Evo variants was just under 150, with about 30% being the Evo. However, due to race-related accidents, the actual number of surviving cars is likely below 100.
