Timeline

In 2012, Ferrari introduced a Grand-Am variant of the 458 GT3. This version maintained the same weight but produced less downforce and had a more restricted engine, outputting 507 PS with an 8,000 rpm redline. Unlike the GT3's dual-clutch automatic, the Grand-Am model was equipped with a sequential manual transmission. Safety modifications included a revised roll-cage to meet stricter regulations, and the car lacked both traction control and ABS. The 458 Italia Grand-Am debuted at the 2012 24 Hours of Daytona. The first significant victory for this model was achieved by AimAutosport.com, with drivers Jeff Segal and Emil Assentato securing second place at Laguna Seca, leading to their clinching of the Grand-Am Rolex GT championship in September 2012.
