Launched at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, the Ferrari California introduced a new front-engine, V8 grand touring range. It featured several firsts for Ferrari: a front-mounted 4.3-liter V8, a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, a folding metal roof, multi-link rear suspension, and direct fuel injection. Designed with a 47% front to 53% rear weight distribution, it also incorporated the F1-Trac traction control system. The California reached 310 km/h, with 0-100 km/h in four seconds. Notable for its aerodynamic design, it was available in 2+2 or 2+ seating configurations and was the first Ferrari with optional stop/start technology. Across its production span from 2008 to 2017, about 17,300 units were produced, with only three featuring a manual transmission.
