Timeline

The Ferrari Cr 25 concept, presented at the 1974 Turin Motor Show, marked Pininfarina's first Ferrari concept since 1970's Modulo. It was a potential design direction for Ferrariā€™s four-seat line, contrasting with the more conventional 365 GT4 launched in 1972. The Cr 25, named for its 0.025 drag coefficient, focused on aerodynamic efficiency and met increasing safety standards, notably with innovative bumpers. It featured a fastback body, touch-sensitive door catches, and pop-up air brakes, with minimal ornamentation. The chassis mirrored the 365 GT4 but with a wider track, and the suspension was independent with anti-roll bars. While it had no engine, it could theoretically house a 4.4-litre V12 or Flat 12. Inside, the Cr 25 combined dark brown alcantara with bright blue fabric and a digital dash, emphasizing a futuristic design. Despite its innovations, Ferrari did not pursue the Cr 25's direction for their V12 four-seaters, though some styling elements appeared later in the Mondial. The concept eventually faded into obscurity, with its upper body sections repainted silver for publicity photos.
