The Ferrari F12 TRS, a barchetta based on the F12berlinetta, was created under Ferrari's Special Projects programme for a specific customer. It debuted in June 2014 at the Ferrari Cavalcade in Sicily. Designed by the Centro Stile Ferrari led by Flavio Manzoni, the F12 TRS draws inspiration from the 1957 250 Testa Rossa, featuring a modern reinterpretation of its style. The car's notable features include a barchetta body style reminiscent of the Testarossa, a redesigned rear section, a new front bumper, and an engine cover with a glass panel showcasing the V12 engine's cylinder heads. The F12 TRS appeared at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed and later in various locations in different colors and design tweaks. Only two units were produced, both commissioned by the same client, with one originally in red, later seen in Corsica in 2016 with a redesign matching the second unit, which was initially black and later appeared in liquid silver.
