The Ferrari F310, introduced in 1996, featured Ferrari's first V10 engine, aimed at balancing power and fuel efficiency. Michael Schumacher achieved three Grand Prix wins, but the car was plagued by reliability issues, as evidenced by Eddie Irvine's multiple retirements. Initially designed with a low nose, the F310 transitioned to a high nose for better aerodynamics from the Canadian Grand Prix. Despite being an innovative car, including being the first F1 car with dashboard gauges on the steering wheel, the F310 was criticized for its performance and handling, with both Irvine and designer John Barnard expressing negative views, and Schumacher describing it as "a parachute."
