The F355 Spider, launched in 1995, featured a design by Pininfarina, refined through 1,800 hours in the wind tunnel for an optimal mix of elegance and aerodynamics. It was the first Ferrari to feature an electronically powered automated manual soft-top. Initially available with a 6-speed manual transmission, an optional F1 transmission was introduced in 1997. The Spider became the second most popular F355 model, with a total production of 3,717 units. Of these, 2,664 were equipped with the 6-speed manual, while 1,053 featured the F1 transmission.
