Timeline

The Ferrari F40, prepared by Michelotto, competed in racing starting in 1989, initially appearing in the IMSA's GTO category. Of the three chassis built, two raced while the third remained unused. The F40 achieved notable success, including a debut third-place finish at Laguna Seca and several podium finishes in subsequent IMSA seasons with various guest drivers. It didn't return to IMSA in 1991 but became popular in domestic GT series. The F40 debuted in international competitions in 1994, winning at Vallelunga in the BPR Global GT Series. By 1995, four F40s were competing, achieving wins like the 4 Hours of Anderstorp. However, facing competition from the McLaren F1 GTR, the F40's competitiveness waned, with its last significant win in 1996. A total of nineteen F40 racing cars were produced.
