The Testa d'Oro, designed by Luigi Colani in 1989, was a modified Ferrari Testarossa aimed at setting land speed records at the salt flats. It featured a turbocharged flat-12 engine, equipped with a 5.0 L Ferrari-Lotec turbocharger, delivering 750 hp at 6,400 rpm and 900 N⋅m of torque at 5,000 rpm. In 1991, the Testa d'Oro successfully set a class record by reaching a speed of 351 km/h (218 mph), notably achieving this feat with catalytic converters installed.
